WPI Africana Studies Professor Trent Masiki will discuss his new book, The Afro-Latino Memoir (UNC Press 2023)in a conversation with Prof. Jorge Santos (Holy Cross) from 4-5pm, Monday November 27 in the Gordon Library Conference Room. 

Prof. Masiki joined WPI in 2022 as Assistant Professor of Africana Studies (Social Science & Policy Studies). His research focuses on the social, historical, and intercultural ties that bind African Americans to other communities of African descent in the US, Africa, and the African diaspora. His 2023 book, The Afro-Latino Memoirbrings critical attention to the understudied African American influences in Afro-Latino memoirs published after the advent of the Black Arts movement.
